Starting in 1947, the Official Bulletin of the IOC mentions
the countries whose NOC's are recognised by the IOC. Together with Korea, Burma and Trinidad, also Iran, Guatemala and Panama are recognised. The applications from Curaçao, Java, Singapore and Lebanon are postponed. There are now 61 recognised NOCs. (Monaco has reappeared on the list). Costa Rica, Ecuador, Germany, Nicaragua, Rhodesia and the Soviet Union, as well as the 4 former countries (*) are still missing. |

Slovakia and the Czech Republic, and of 5 former Yugoslav republics. Yugoslavia will continue under that name until 2003, when it becomes Serbia and Montenegro A further seven NOCs make 1993, with 26 new admittances, the most productive in history. Meanwhile we have lost Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union, so the total membership stands now at 193.
