He swam for a club from Algiers in 1960, so I would have classed him as Algerian - but then he represented France (out of Lyon) in 1964 (when Algeria was independent and had its own NOC). I don't want to create nation switchers when that is not needed, so this athlete shall be deemed French throughout.
