His father had emigrated to Transvaal in 1880, but returned to Germany after the Boer War and regained German citizenship. Vincent went back to South Africa in 1907 and was entered for South Africa in the Olympics of 1908. He did not compete due to Rheumatism.
Although he would certainly be classed as South African in 1908, in 1906 he had dual citizenship and he travelled from Germany to Athina, so I shall continue to class him as German.
