Subotica was (and still is) a city with a very mixed population. Croats outnumber Serbs but no-one has been forced to leave at any time in the history. So, although this athlete was ethnically Croat, lived in and played for (Dinamo) Zagreb, and even died in (newly independent) Croatia, I continue to go by his birthplace and class him as Serb.
