There was no team Dressage at Roma, and the individual event was judged remotely, making that the results were only known three days after the competition

In 1976, he was partner to Bernard Germeshausen in the 2-man crew, in 1980 they were in separate sleighs, and Nehmer finished third, Germeshausen second. They were twice in the same 4-man crew. At Innsbrück, and of course again at Lake Placid, he was the oldest gold medallist.
