She was disqualified from her London gold after failing a drugs test, but in the same year she moved from fifth to third for her 2004 exploit after an 8-year old sample of Svetlana Krivelyova was retested. She is not credited with a bronze medal for that, but I award points for third place nevertheless.

She was a great-niece of Victor Hugo and a niece to composer Lucien Paroche and she won acclaim at the piano. In her Olympic triumph, she was helped by the absence of Russian Athletes, who held the world records at Shot and Discus. She had entered the discus only as an afterthought, being in London anyway. She celebrated her victories with an impromptu recital of Beethoven at France's team headquarters.
She grew up in Tunisia, lived there after the War and was affiliated to a Tunis club in 1948, so we should count her as Tunisian. A Tunisian Olympic Committee was formed only in 1957.
