Her birthplace cannot be found in any atlas, possibly it's in Alsace, now again French. She was Dutch, had married a Frenchman, but had returned to Dutch nationality after his death in 1942. She was still living in Paris, and competed for the Netherlands but finished more than thirty seconds after the penultimate competitor.
