The territory of the country now known as Uganda was British since 1894, when a
British Protectorate was declared over Uganda.
In 1962 the colony became an independent nation under the name Uganda.
The colony of Uganda sent teams to the 1956 and 1960 Olympics.
From 1964 there were teams from independent Uganda.
