Stage Two

Half of the competitors qualified for the second round, half of those qualified for the final. We know the final total of 14 shooters, all of whom seem to have completed 100 shots. Since this corresponds to just over a quarter of the 53 original entrants, it seems logical to assume that this list is complete. We have no knowledge however of the other 13/14 shooters who qualified for the second round.

Most sources say there were 48 competitors, but this is the number of team members (8 teams of 6). One source mentions 53 competitors and I choose to bellieve this. We have five names of competitors that did not participate in the team competition, so this seems to add up. The New York Times mentions that there were 3 Finnish competitors, but there are no sources that name more than one (Nieminen). It would seem logical that the entrants were limited to six per nation, and that four countries allowed their seventh shooter to compete in the individual event, but then we need to add four unknown competitors (two finns and two ??). I prefer to believe that the 53 names we have are all the participants.
