Born in the Romanian part of the Austrian Empire, he lived in Graz, Trieste, Praha and Wien, from where he competed in Athina in 1906. He then set up a dental practice in Karlovy Vary (Czechia). He traveled to the US and then to Monaco. In 1928, he was a Czechoslovak citizen and he represented them in 1928. He returned to Czechoslovakia in 1935, and stayed there until 1944, despite being Jewish. He eventually ended up in Monaco, where he gained citizenship in 1952 and died in 1968.

One of only two swimmers to have competed in all five strokes, and the only one to have done it in one Olympics. Unsurprisingly, the Medley gave her her best result, but 21st was actually last. Over the five events there were only seven performances slower than hers. Three of those seven were the same swimmer (Jovina Tseng).
